First Steps in the Adaptive Classroom

This session will take participants through the eight step work-out in a modified session that is applicable to spectrum, MR, and LD students. Participants will be taken through a modified lesson and video examples of students will be shared.

Participants will:

  • review the eight step process, and leave with a better understanding of the workout.
  • leave with a better understanding of how to modify their First Steps instruction to the learning needs of their special learners.
  • gain an understanding of how to individualize instruction for their special needs learner.
  • be able to take ideas back to their classroom for immediate application.

 

Rachel GrimsbyRachel Grimsby has 13 years experience in elementary music education. She holds degrees from East Carolina University and The Hartt School of Music. She has obtained certification in all four Orff levels as well as all three Kodaly levels. She has also obtained certification in all three FAME levels and is a teacher trainer for Conversational Solfege levels one and two. She has presented at regional, state and national conferences.

Rachel is also blessed with an amazing family; her husband Greg, daughter Annabelle and son Benjamin.
