Important Update:

Missing Page in Learning Harmony and Improvisation Using Conversational Solfege

Dear FAME Members,

During a recent online Conversational Solfege Upper Levels (CSUL) course, we identified a minor but significant omission in the teaching manual for Learning Harmony and Improvisation Using Conversational Solfege. FAME is providing the missing page so that you can update your copy of the book accordingly.

Conversational SOlfege Level 5, Learning Harmony and Improvisation using Conversational SOlfege

What’s Missing?

In Unit 5 of the book, there is a missing song that should be included in the collection of teaching repertoire.

Please add the following song to your manual:

There Was a Rich Old Farmer

  • Function: Partner song for Ghost of John

  • Ostinato Progression (Aeolian): I – VII – I – I

This pairing offers an engaging opportunity for students to explore:

  • Tonal harmony

  • Layered partwork

  • Partner song structure

  • opening up a pathway for Improvisation in the Aeolian mode

What to Do

If you’re already teaching from this resource:

  • We recommend printing this song and inserting it into your Unit 5 materials.

  • A formatted PDF version will be made available for download here

Future printings of the manual will include this song by default.

Thank You

Special thanks to our dedicated CSUL participants for catching this and helping us maintain the quality and integrity of our materials.

Let’s keep supporting each other as we help students grow into joyful, independent music makers through the Feierabend approach.
