There is no better way for a child to grow up loving classical music than to dance with their caregivers at a very young age. That’s why I have created a series of Move Its for the parent/child First Steps in Music class called Baby Move It. When children feel the “rhythms of life” in the secure arms of a loving caregiver synaptic connections are made. Many of these “dances” are done in circle formation. Circles build a sense of community and the use of locomotion and vestibular stimulation add to the enjoyment and brain building benefits of these dances. Parents also enjoy the choreography and the stability of being familiar with the sequence of the dance. Form and expression are experienced through movement and a joyful introduction to great classical music is created.
