The Directions

A- :00 – :22

  • Bend to pick an imaginary flower with the right hand, then left hand. Raise both arms and lower them to the sides, expressing the joy of spring.
  • Repeat 
  • Bend to pick 5 flowers, alternating hands.
  • Holding the imaginary flower bouquet in one hand, use the other to wind ribbon around the flower stems.
  • Hold bouquet to nose as if smelling the flowers, and then stifle a sneeze.                                                                                                                  

Av- :23 – :45

  • Bend to pick an imaginary flower with the right hand, then left hand. Raise both arms and lower them to the sides.
  • Bend to pick 5 flowers, alternating hands.
  • Holding the imaginary flower bouquet in one hand, use the other to wind ribbon around the flower stems.

  • Holding the bouquet with the left hand, pretend the index finger of the right hand is a bee flying all around, coming to land on the flowers. 
  • Holding the bouquet with the right hand, pretend the index finger of the left hand is a second bee, which also will land on the flowers.
  • Using the right hand, gently shoo the bee away four times. Repeat with the other hand.
  • Have the left hand “bee” fly away, ending with a “release” by opening the other fingers
  • Using the left hand, gently shoo the bee away four times. Repeat with the other hand.
  • Have the right hand “bee” fly away, ending with a “release” by opening the other fingers

Av2 – 1:41-2:13

  • Bend to pick an imaginary flower with the right hand, then left hand. Raise both arms and lower them to the sides.

Note:
Students may explore levels by picking flowers from trees or bushes rather than from the ground. The B section may be modified to allow students to travel as the bees fly around the room, rather than just tracing with a finger in the air.
