First Steps in Music for Infants and Toddlers with Infants and Toddlers
First Steps in Music for Infants and Toddlers
with Infants and Toddlers
Saturday, July 26th– 1:45 – 2:45 PM Session II
Come watch a live presentation of the First Steps in Music program at the Hartt School of Music and get a snapshot of what it looks like to work with parents and their children. An infant/toddler class will be open for observation and participants will receive a lesson plan template to use for their own teaching.
My goal is to offer participants a living example of parents using the First Steps in Music curriculum with their Infants/toddlers. I will provide an eight-part lesson plan for attendees to observe. The class will be 50 minutes long with a brief discussion time at the end.
Connie Greenwood has been the primary First Steps in Music teacher at the University of Hartford since 2007. This summer, while working on her Master’s degree in Music Education, she will receive her second Kodaly Certificate. After graduating from Hartt with a Bachelor in Music, she taught in the West Hartford public schools and in several early childhood centers. She is interviewed in Dr. John Feierabend’s PBS documentary, Music and Early Childhood. Connie is the mother of four grown musical children and continues to share her passion for folk music and early childhood development with preschool children in the greater Hartford area.
